About Me

I have successfully treated and specialize in anxiety, depression, infidelity recovery, marriage and couples reconnection, family blending.  I have extensive experience in areas that support law enforcement officers, military members, ministers, and their families.  It is my passion and pleasure to walk with those who are struggling and hurting, toward a better place, one with peace, joy and hope.

As you may have assumed, I am the husband of Dr. Jamie Holland, and have four children (Josh, Caleb, Ethan and Alana) and one therapy (Rigatoni). We are residents of Virginia Beach and can be found sharing the beach with you each spring, summer and fall!

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and one of the owners of Coast to Coast Counseling & Wellness, in Virginia Beach, Virginia. I also serve as an Assistant Professor in the School of Health & Behavioral Sciences of Regent University and am a former faculty member of Eastern Virginia Medical School.  I have received extensive training from Harvard University, the Gottman Institute, HeartMath, and many other professional and educational sources to be equipped to help you and I am very good at it.

I have helped countless individuals, couples and families heal, grow and increase their abilities to navigate difficulties.  Over the years, I have been the choice of professional athletes and their coaches, doctors, lawyers, nurses, members of our elite military community and their families, first responders and many others from every walk of life.  I have a reputation for providing innovative and highly effective personalized interventions that produce quick and lasting progress for those I work with.

During our time together, I jump into the trenches with you and together we walk through whatever you are going through to a place of healing, wholeness, peace and joy. If you are not local to Virginia Beach, know that I am board certification in telemental health delivery, and have a proven successful track record of successful treatment for individual and couples through professionally delivered online counseling.

It’s important to know that no two experiences of anxiety, depression, loss or other struggles are the same.  Each person’s experiences are unique, requiring the skill and experience I bring to each session, to quickly identify and formulate the best plan for us reach your goals.

Who I Typically Help

Because I am licensed to help individuals, couples, and families in Virginia, North Carolina, and Hawaii, I can help you if you are in one of those states.  My outpatient therapy patients are individuals ranging from early adolescence to adults.  Service for couples include pre-engagement, post-engagement, marriage, new baby, remarriage, transitions & tough decisions, infidelity, and divorce services.  Some typical areas that I am chosen to support families include parenting, step-parenting issues, healthy boundary development, family blending issues, deployment, and other issues.

When seeing individuals, I often address symptoms of anxiety disorders, ADHD, depression, marital issues (Gottman certified – L1), men’s issues, performance under stress, purpose of life issues, panic disorders, sexual problems, military issues, mood issues, grief, loss, PTSD, OCD, LGBTQ issues, life transitions, oppositional defiance, Autism Spectrum Disorder, child behavior issues, foster child issues, parenting issues, alcohol and other substance issue addiction, as well as spiritual issues.  I also specialize in treating military and first responders and their families.  No matter why you are interested in my services, I will meet you where you are and customize innovative interventions and therapies for optimal results for your specific goals.

I often utilize techniques from my advanced training and experience in cognitive behavioral therapy, Gottman couples therapy, biophysiology, HeartMath biofeedback, ecopsychology, affect tolerance, positive psychology, body-mind integration, emotionally focused therapy, and several other sources to find the best treatment to support your success.
